By blocking the local road and part of the construction site on the section of the Medakovo-Poprikuše highway on the Vc corridor in Jablanica, residents of several populated places in the municipality of Tešnja once again warned the authorities that the two-year-old safety problem, especially for the youngest.
They point out that for two years they have been unsuccessfully looking for solutions from the Municipality, through the Canton to the Federation, and that the roadblock and the media are their only hope to make their families’ lives safer.
– Did it take two years for our children to walk under bridges expecting something to save them from killing them? So, until someone is killed, no one will engage – Vezira Huskić from Karadagli tells us in revolt.
Locals point out that every day they pass through an unsecured construction site where their children, who do not have school transport, risk their lives on the way to school.
Residents of several villages fear for their safety
– How can our children pass, fly on the highway. Where to? They don’t have a second way to school – points out Emina Softić.
– We do not have a protective zone through which we will travel. Our children do not have transport, our children do not have security. All this is very difficult for us – adds Jasmina Halilović from Koprivac.
The local school points out that they repeatedly asked to solve the problem of transportation for more than 200 students, but that it could not be approved by the Canton because the legal criteria were not met.
– I believe that by providing transport for children, all these problems would be solved, including the safety of students and conditions at school – explains the director of the local elementary school in Jablanica, Sakib Plančić.
Citizens point out that they sent letters from Tešnj to Sarajevo, but that no one heard them.
– Everyone from the Ministry of Health is responsible, then the school, the Municipality, the mayor, all of them should do something, as well as the Contractors – says Emina Softić.
The Municipality of Tešanj points out that they asked the contractor to physically separate the area of the construction site from the local road.
Schoolchildren pass through the highway construction site
– We received a concrete promise that in the next 20 to 25 days, the contractors will do what they can in that area – the municipal coordinator for cooperation with the Ministry of Health on the highway route, Hasan Plančić, tells us.
– You can expect that it will be completed, but you can also expect certain problems because it is a very narrow area here, and the underground and above-ground installations that need to be redefined are in a very bad condition, but we will do it in 20 to 25 days – promises the chief engineer on this part of the route, Vc Deni Tica.
After two years of promises, the citizens, they say, no longer trust anyone, but they hope that this time the authorities will understand them, writes Afirmativa.ba
