The commemoration was attended by numerous figures from the public and basketball life of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as the region.
One of them was former basketball player Mirza Teletović, whose career was marked by Avdić during the game with the famous “S parking”.
Teletović gave his speech through tears.
“There are no words that can ease your pain, but I want you to know that you are not alone. It is shared by all of us who had the privilege of knowing Edin,” he addressed the Avdić family in a sad voice.
“His eyes would be the first to smile when he talked to you. Everyone loved and appreciated him. He was a man who knew how to listen, even though his profession was a microphone,” said Teletović in tears.
“Today I do not hide my tears, which are heavy but sincere. His departure is unfair, it is difficult to accept that he is not with us. There is no emptiness left, but unforgettable memories. Thank you for every transfer, advice, shared moment. We will miss you, my friend. I was listening to Dejan Bodiroga’s speech when I asked Edin, because Bodiroga is from Trebinje, “How is Dejo to us?”, and he said “That is, Mirza, our man”.
Edin Avdić died on June 3 in Belgrade at the age of 47. He is survived by his mother Hidayeta, son Isak and wife Anja.
