The long-awaited conference on the national dialogue that needs to help determine the Political Future of Syria after the fall of the former President Bashar Assad should begin today.
The main session will be held on Tuesday, and the participants will hold workshops on which they will discuss transitional justice, the structure of the new Constitution, reforms and building institutions, personal freedoms, the role of civil society and the country’s economy.
The outcome of the National Dialogue will be optional recommendations to the new country leaders.
The plans for the conference – promised by the country’s new authorities immediately after Assad’s falling in the lightning rebel offensive in December – they were up to the last moment. The conference date was announced on Sunday, the day before its beginning.
Two days before this publication, Hassan Al-Daghim, a spokesman, organized by the National Dialogue, said the Conference Date was not determined and that timing “was left on the discussion of citizens.”
He added that the number of participants was not yet determined and that he could range from 400 to 1,000, reports AP.
