Strong earthquake hits northern Japan: The ground shook off the coast of Miyagi

An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 6.3 struck northern Japan on Friday, the Japan Meteorological Agency announced.

The epicenter of the earthquake was off the coast of Miyagi Prefecture, at a depth of 50 kilometers, the agency said, adding that no tsunami warning had been issued.
