Iranian ambassador Abolfazl Pasandideh stated that the reason for such measures are visa restrictions, noting that the team “will be able to enter in the morning and have to leave the country on the same day.”
According to the schedule, Iran is scheduled to play three games in the US in the group stage, including two in Los Angeles and one in Seattle.
Earlier, it was planned that the national team would train in Tucson, but that plan was abandoned.
These circumstances come in the context of heightened regional tensions following earlier military and political escalations between Iran, the US and Israel, which further affected diplomatic and security relations in the region.
