The Mostar derby, scheduled for tomorrow from 19:00 at the HŠK Zrinjski stadium, will be the last game of the current season, and after today and tomorrow five more matches of the 36th round of the WWin League of BiH will be played.
Coach Štimac expects one more, the sixth Mostar derby this season, in a good mood. At the weekend, he led the team to Pleternica, where the host, NK Slavija, celebrated their 100th birthday.
– It was wonderful, we were greeted by the well-known Slavonian hospitality. And this guest appearance was significant, because Slavija Pleternica, like Zrinski, was founded before World War II. Therefore, yesterday the two Zrinjskas celebrated a beautiful anniversary, 100 years of the existence of that club – said the strategist of the BiH vice-champions.
He was delighted with the number of fans who came to Pleternica wearing the Zrinjski jersey, and he did not change his tone even when announcing another, the sixth match of the season with Velež, even the 61st game of his team this season.
– It would be nice to end the season with a win and a good game. We are decimated, but we will find energy for tomorrow and play that last game. There is no result imperative, but derbies are always special matches. Although, I don’t know how much more we can call it a derby – he said.
Along the way, he looked into the near future, pointing out that regardless of the changes, Zrinjski will be competitive when it comes to Bosnia and Herzegovina. league, but added that his desire is to think further within what the club is waiting for in Europe.
– About thirty clubs that will be waiting for us in the preliminaries of the Conference League are very serious, regardless of the fact that they are not attractive names. But they are very well organized, hungry for success and it will not be pleasant. Therefore, we have to think about that step and, accordingly, fill the staff who will be able to deal with such challenges – he pointed out.
Looking back on the previous ten months on the Zrinjski bench, he said that he was very satisfied and thanked everyone in Mostar, in the club and around him, for their hospitality, for making him feel at home in the city on the Neretva.
– I think we did great things together, raised the bar even higher. Now we have to continue to work hard, to plan carefully, because we are not a club that has a single budget that we can sleep peacefully on – he concluded.
Today from 18:00 Široki Brijeg welcomes Radnik, from 20:30 Sarajevo and Željezničar will play, and two more meetings before the Mostar derby will be played tomorrow.
On Tuesday from 18:00, both duels relevant in the context of the fight for survival will be played, in which Borac will host Posušje, and Sloga will host Rudar from Prijedor in Doboj.
At the top of the table, champion Borac has 83 points, runner-up Zrinjski 68, and third-placed Sarajevo 62.
Another participant in European competitions will be Velež, which currently has 51 points, followed by Željezničar (42), Široki Brijeg (42), Radnik (35), Posušje with 34, and in the danger zone are Sloga with 31 and Rudar with 30 points.
