Global smartphone shipments are set to grow by two percent in 2025, driven by stronger demand and economic momentum in emerging markets, Counterpoint Research said.
Apple led the market with a 20 percent share, the largest among the top five brands, thanks to solid demand in emerging and midmarkets and good sales of the iPhone 17 series, Counterpoint analyst Varun Mishra said.
Manufacturers accelerated shipments at the beginning of the year to avoid tariffs, but that effect weakened as 2025 progressed.
Samsung took second place with a 19 percent share on modest growth in shipments, while Xiaomi was third with a 13 percent share, buoyed by steady demand in emerging markets.
The global smartphone market is expected to weaken in 2026 due to chip shortages and rising component costs as chipmakers prioritize AI data centers over mobile devices, Counterpoint research director Tarun Pathak said.
