The attack took place in the early morning near the observation post on Urpin, when a man was jogging in that area, reports TANJUG.
The man suffered chest injuries, but managed to escape to a small train station, from where he called for help.
“The man was taken care of by the emergency team and taken to the hospital for further examination. Police patrols were dispatched to the scene. The intervention team for brown bears was also notified, which will search for the animal and monitor the entire location,” the police statement said.
The City Council of Banska Bistrica called on residents to be careful when moving in the natural environment, especially during walks or sports activities.
Police and an emergency response team are on site and monitoring the area.
