Sinner routinely cruised to victory against the world’s 60th player, dropping only two games in the first set.

It was Sinner’s 25th consecutive victory at Masters tournaments this year, and 30th overall in a row at Masters 1000 tournaments, tying Serbian Novak Djokovic’s record.

“It was windy, but I managed to play well and I’m happy. It was a solid performance. It’s always great to play here in Rome. I’m impressed with how I handled the conditions today,” said the number one tennis player in the world who won the Masters in Paris, Indian Wells, Miami, Monte Carlo and Madrid in the past six months.

In the next round, the 24-year-old Italian will play against compatriot Andre Pellegrino, who is five years older than him, the 155th in the world who made it through the qualifications to the round of 16.

Sinner will attempt to become the first Italian to win the Foro Italico men’s title since Adriano Panatta in 1976.
