Shooting near the White House, closed part of downtown Washington

The Secret Service urged the public to stay away from the location while emergency services are on the scene. The incident happened not far from the White House, where President Donald Trump was participating in an event for small businesses at the time.

The White House was briefly placed on lockdown during the investigation, and reporters outside the facility were moved into the briefing area. The President’s event continued without interruption.
