The sanitary and water inspector of the Municipality of Tešanj sent a notice to the owners of shops that deal in the sale of foodstuffs, as well as to responsible persons at gas stations, with the aim of protecting the health of the population from possible harmful consequences.
It was emphasized that products intended for human consumption must be stored and displayed exclusively in hygienically correct conditions, and that they must be protected from direct solar radiation, exhaust gases, dust and other external influences.
Special attention is drawn to products in plastic packaging, such as water, juices and other refreshing drinks. Exposure of these products to high temperatures and direct sunlight can lead to the release of harmful chemical compounds from the packaging, which can have negative health consequences, including possible hormonal disorders, as well as changes in the quality of the drinks themselves.
The measures also apply to gas stations, where in practice there is often a display of beverages in open spaces or near roads, which further increases the risk of contamination and the influence of external factors.
Also, fruits and vegetables must be adequately protected from dust, insects and exhaust gases, and stored and displayed in a way that ensures hygienic correctness and health safety of consumers.
The competent service reminds that all entities are obliged to comply with valid sanitary and hygienic regulations, and that in case of non-compliance, the measures provided for by law will be taken.
