On Thursday, a drone strike, allegedly launched from Iran, hit Azerbaijan’s Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, injuring four people, Xinhua reported.
Azerbaijan has accused Iran of launching the drone attack, which Tehran has denied.
Zakharova said that Russia calls on both countries to refrain from “reckless steps” that could create new divisions in the region, adding that “Moscow is extremely concerned about the development of the situation in the Middle East caused by the unprovoked armed aggression of the United States and Israel against Iran.”
The diplomat pointed out that Russia is ready to facilitate the cessation of bloodshed in the region, the continuation of political and diplomatic dialogue and the search for solutions based on international law, mutual respect and a balance of interests.
