According to the statement, Putin reiterated Moscow’s support for Tehran, stressing that Russia will remain a reliable partner of Iran.
“For my part, I want to confirm our unwavering support for Tehran and solidarity with our Iranian friends. Russia has been and will remain a reliable partner of the Islamic Republic. I wish you success in solving the difficult tasks ahead of you, as well as good health and strength of spirit,” the statement added.
Mojtaba Khamenei (56) was elected as the third supreme leader of Iran in history. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkiyan described his appointment as a step towards strengthening national unity.
The previous Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, held the post for 37 years. He was killed in an attack on February 28. He was 86 years old.
