PSG players defended their title in the Champions League final at the Puskas Arena in Budapest against Arsenal, but only after the shootout. The result after the regular part was 1:1, and the PSG team was more successful in taking shots from the penalty spot with a score of 4:3.
The Arsenal players entered the game in the best possible way. Until early hit they arrived in the 6th minute when Kai Havertz scored for 1:0. Trossard took the ball in the middle of the field, after which it deflected to the German attacker. Havertz then ran away from Marquinhos, crossed a large part of the field and safely checked Safonov for the lead of the London team.
PSG after conceding a goal increased the pressure further and kept Arsenal deep in his own half for most of the first half.
The Brazilian Gabriel stood out in particular with several key interventions. First, in the 11th minute, he saved his team in front of Kvaratskhelia, and then in the 30th minute, he stopped Ousmane Dembele in the penalty area with a superb slide. Although the home fans demanded penalty kickthe video showed that the start was clean.
Arsenal threatened mainly from breaks and counterattacks, while PSG struggled to create a distinct opportunity despite the field initiative.
