Protesters in Jerusalem have called on the Donald Trump administration to end support for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Dozens of people gathered in front of the US ambassador to Israel on Saturday morning, carrying banners addressed to President Donald Trump that read “Don’t be fooled again”, accusing Netanyahu of threatening the strategic relationship between the US and Israel.
– He deceived you about Gaza and Iran – it was written on one of the banners.
Speaking at the protest, Eran Etzion, former deputy head of Israel’s National Security Council, said: “We’re here to interrupt your Saturday morning with an urgent message to President Trump – you’re betting on the wrong horse. You’re betting on the political end. You’re betting on a worn-out politician.”

Yaron, an 11-year-old boy, said: “(Netanyahu) doesn’t care about our future. He only cares about himself and staying in power. He has harmed our country.”

The protest was held in front of the home of US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee, a staunch ally of Netanyahu. During Argentine President Javier Millei’s visit to Israel earlier this week, Huckabee said of Netanyahu and Millei, “I don’t know of two world leaders on our planet that our president respects more and has a more personal relationship with than President Millei and Prime Minister Netanyahu.”
Although the Israeli public largely supported a joint US-Israeli war against Iran in the beginning, that support has gradually waned. A series of polls in mid-April showed that most Israelis do not believe that the US and Israel have won the war against Iran. Anti-war protests, which were very small at the beginning of the war, have since grown.
