Due to the continuous increase in fuel prices, you can still see fuel being poured into canisters at gas stations. This is not only a case in Bosnia and Herzegovina, but a global phenomenon.
Representative in the House of Representatives of the Federal Parliament, Damir Nikšić, sent an initiative to the Ministry of Trade of the FBiH to make a decision to put an end to this phenomenon.
What was requested
Specifically, he asked this ministry to prohibit the pouring of fuel into tanks except in exceptional cases, e.g. for agricultural producers. Also, the initiative requested to establish priority of supply for public institutions, health institutions, emergency services, public transport, etc.
Ultimately, the initiative, which he says is limited in time. requested the prescription of clear criminal provisions.
The FBiH Ministry of Trade, headed by Minister Amir Hasičević, replied that it had considered this initiative.
The Ministry’s response
“After analyzing the applicable regulations and competences of the institutions, we indicate that this ministry is not competent to make or propose decisions that limit the circulation of oil derivatives. This includes the prohibition of pouring fuel into additional tanks or prescribing priorities in the supply of certain entities,” the act states.
They believe that the possible consideration of the proposed measures should be initiated by the competent institutions in the field of energy.
When it comes to gas stations in Bosnia and Herzegovina, there have been recent reports from the field that some gas stations on their own initiative forbade the pouring of fuel into canisters. For example, the media recorded such a case in Bužim. However, those gas stations that implemented this type of “measure” are still rare, he writes Focus.
