The first day of application of the new biometric control system at the borders of the European Union brought new rules for travel. But the question is whether we can afford those trips anymore.
While fingerprints are scanned at crossings, wallets are used to calculate how much this year’s vacation will actually cost.
Adin Ćišić, sales manager at a travel agency:
“Regarding the price increase of arrangements, we currently have no plans, nor do we have any price increases from the airlines, so there are none at the moment. Whether we will expect it, we will have to adapt, it is a global situation, so there will be certain corrections.”
Amila Sirćo, marketing manager of the travel agency:
“The war in the Middle East may have the biggest impact on the increase in fuel prices, so the airlines have to increase their prices. We are experiencing price increases from our suppliers, but we warn our customers to book in time before the official increase in fuel has happened, which affects the price of the arrangement.”
Prices are also affected by the price of fuel. Travel agencies offer various price ranges, depending on the type of transport and destination, with the emphasis that prices have not increased drastically compared to last year.

“The price of a bus arrangement starts from 200, 250 KM, depending on the travel program and the number of nights, while air travel is in the price range of 600, up to 700, 800 marks, depending on the destination and the number of nights. As for summer vacations, there are arrangements of 1000, 1100 marks for 7 nights on an all-inclusive basis.”
Although agencies sell fixed packages, if you travel in your own arrangement, the math is different. The price of the flight itself is only slightly higher, while the costs of luggage and taxis have increased by as much as 50 percent. When the line is drawn, the same weekend in Rome in a private direction costs almost a hundred marks more than last year.
Whether it’s more expensive fuel or new airport taxes, travel is slowly losing the epithet of affordable. With the new EES system, which introduces additional waiting minutes from today, it seems that only those with a carefully planned budget and a lot of patience will go on vacation, it says N1 BiH.
