Google has changed the name for U.S. Google Maps users to reflect the decision of the US President Donald Trump to rename the Mexican Bay, writes HRT.
Claudia Sheinbaum has repeatedly condemned the move, claiming that the name “Mexican Bay” has long been internationally recognized.
On Thursday, she said Google did not adopt the previously complaints of Mexico.
She called Google to reconsider the decree of the White House, claiming that “is the only where he was valid where he (US) has sovereignty, or up to 22 nautical miles from the coast.”
For Google Maps users in Mexico, the name of the bay remains “Mexican Bay”. Outside the two countries, users see both names on Google Maps.
“If Google remains at his name, Mexico could contact the court. If necessary, we will launch a civil lawsuit,” sheinbaum said, and added:
“Our legal area is already considering what that would mean, but we hope that Google will think again.”
Google did not immediately answer the comment request.
