We remind you that photos and videos of thick brown clouds coming out of the chimney of the Tuzla Thermal Power Plant have been spreading on social networks for several years now.
A special panic among the residents of Tuzla and surrounding settlements arose today when they were greeted by black dust in all directions this morning.
“While Elektroprivreda BiH and TE Tuzla earn hundreds of millions of marks from exporting electricity, the citizens of the Tuzla Canton inhale ash and sulphur. For more than 20 days, the filters at the thermal power plant have not been in operation, everyone is silent about this, even though it can be seen with the naked eye: gray smoke over the city, and black dust falls on cars, gardens and streets” – wrote one of the residents

There is not only more dust in the settlements of Šićki Brod, Bukinje and Husino, which are the closest to the Thermal Power Plant, but also the residents of Mihatovići complain.
“This is a disaster. I got up this morning and the car was covered in dust, believe me I didn’t remember this,” Jasmin of the Mihatovići neighborhood told Vijesti.ba.
A few days ago, they announced from Elektroprivreda BiH, they said that air pollution has increased, and that the filter is being cleaned.
“The fact is that the emissions of solid particles at Block 5, which was operating in the previous period, were somewhat increased and that was the cause of the brown-yellow smoke. Among other reasons, the Block was shut down from operation and the elimination of the cause of the increase in the emission of solid particles is underway, that is, the cleaning of the electrofilter electrodes, the contamination of which led to the increase in emissions,” stated the Elektroprivreda of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
