Hungary’s center-right Tisza party is leading Prime Minister Viktor Orban’s ruling Fidesz party ahead of Sunday’s parliamentary elections, according to a poll published by the Nepszava newspaper on Friday.
Nationalist Orban faces the biggest challenge to his rule in 16 years, although a large number of undecided voters means the outcome of the election is uncertain.
Tisza, led by former government insider Peter Magyar, had the support of 52% of voters who made the decision, while 39% supported Fidesz, according to a poll conducted by the Publicus Institute.
The survey, conducted on a sample of 1,000 voters, showed that 38% support Tisa among all voters, while Fidesz is supported by 29%. About 25% of respondents said they had not yet decided how they would vote.
