On Friday, the French police wounded a man at the Montparnasse train station in Paris, who was armed with a knife, the Prosecutor’s Office in Paris announced.
According to the statement, the police officer used a firearm against the man, who then injured himself.
A police source said the man threatened his wife and children in the Paris suburbs before getting on a train to Montparnasse, where officers were waiting for him. When officers spotted him, the man threatened to commit suicide, after which he was shot in the legs.

The prosecution confirmed that at least one shot was fired, while one witness told Reuters that he heard multiple shots.
A Reuters photojournalist who was present at the station described that the police intervention caused a sudden movement of the crowd through the station hall. Police then evacuated the station, which serves suburban lines and high-speed trains to the west and south-west of France.
Another witness told BFM TV that he heard a loud bang before panic broke out.
– It took me two or three seconds to understand what was happening. People started saying: “We have to get out, we have to leave quickly,” which made my heart beat faster, so I got up and ran – the witness told the television network.
