Bosnian writer for children and young people Bajruzin Hajro Planjac achieved extraordinary success in a year that will soon be behind us.
Namely, in addition to a series of translations and distribution of his novels for children and youth in Europe, America and Africa, during December of this year Bracika’s Bunch was published in Japan (ISBN 978-9371-828-659), Indonesia (ISBN 978-9371-827-874) and Portugal (ISBN 978-937-18286-73) in the edition of the publishing house Ukyioto Publishing from Ontario, the house that bought Planjč’s copyrights for itself, but also for selling them to third parties in the world.
Planjac is the most translated contemporary Bosnian writer, who will be awarded the Golden Dickens Charter in February next year, at the IV International Festival in Calcutta, India, and the Charter of Honor for literary excellence for the novel Bracika’s Company.
In addition to Bosnia and Herzegovina, his books are published and distributed in Albania, Algeria, America, Australia, Argentina, Bulgaria, Brazil, Montenegro, Denmark, France, Greece, Croatia, India, South Cyprus, Italy, Indonesia, Kosovo, Canada, Hungary, Morocco, Germany, Portugal, Russia, Slovenia, Serbia, North Cyprus, Macedonia, Sweden, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey, Tunisia, Japan and China.
Planjac is an academician of the Bosnian Academy of Sciences and Arts Kulin ban (BANUK) based in Sarajevo and the International Research Academy of Sciences and Arts MIANU based in Belgrade.
In 2024, the National and University Library of Bosnia and Herzegovina nominated him for the Astrid Lindgren Award – the biggest award in the world for children’s literature. In Macedonia, he was awarded the Goce Misla, in Serbia the Lukijan Mušicki Award, and in Russia the Gratitude for Habet’s Hut. In India, he was awarded the Dickens Gold Medal for Literary Excellence and the Charter of Honor for the book Bracika’s Company.
