Three individual competitions were supposed to be held in Lahti this week, but the International Ski Federation (FIS) canceled one due to a busy calendar. After the schedule changes, it was clear that Prevc had an unattainable advantage.
In tonight’s competition in Lahti, Austrian Daniel Tschofenig won, who celebrated with only 0.6 points ahead of Prevac, while Japanese Ryoyu Kobayashi took third place.
But second place was more than enough for a historic moment.
Prevc now has 1894 points, while Kobayashi is second with 1153 points. A difference of 741 points with six races to go means that no one can catch him anymore.
In this season, Domen Prevc did something that is almost unremembered in ski jumping. In just one year, he managed to conquer almost everything that can be conquered.
He became:
– world champion in ski jumping
– winner of the Small Crystal Globe in ski flights
– world record holder with a jump of 254.5 meters
– winner of the New Year’s Tour
– Olympic champion in ski jumping
– winner of the Great Crystal Globe in the World Cup
In the current season, he achieved as many as 13 victories and has already signed one of the biggest seasons in the history of this sport.
Although the overall winner is already known, the season continues.
Next weekend there are two individual competitions in Oslo, followed by ski flights – first in Vikersund, and then the grand finale of the season in Planica, where two individual and one team competition will be held, reports tportal.hr.
The final numbers of this incredible season will be known only at the end of March, but one thing is already certain – Domen Prevc has already written one of the biggest stories in the history of ski jumping.
