The Pentagon has started publishing new documents related to the so-called “unidentified anomalous phenomena” (UAP), formerly known as UFOs, with the message that the public can judge their content for themselves, the Associated Press reports.
In a post on Platform X, the US Department of Defense states that previous administrations often discouraged public discussions on this topic, while the current policy, they claim, is in the direction of greater openness and “maximum transparency”, which is also associated with the administration of President Donald Trump.

First documents published
It was announced that new materials will be published gradually, and 162 documents are already available. Among them are old State Department diplomatic memos, FBI reports, as well as transcripts of NASA’s manned space missions.
The documents were published on a specially created website, designed in a retro style, with black and white military photos and a typographical look reminiscent of old typewriters.
Descriptions of unusual phenomena
One of the FBI records describes the testimony of a drone pilot who reported an unusual object in the sky in 2023. According to reports, the object was visible for only a few seconds, after which the light disappeared and the object disappeared.
The published materials also include a NASA photograph from the Apollo 17 mission from 1972, showing three dots in a triangular formation. The Pentagon states that there is no single explanation for the phenomenon, but that preliminary analyzes indicate the possibility that it is a physical object.

No proof of alien origin
Although UAP phenomena have been investigated for years, the Pentagon has not found evidence in its reports so far that would indicate the existence of extraterrestrial technology or extraterrestrial origin of these phenomena.
In 2022, the American Congress formed special mechanisms for the collection and publication of such data, and new reports from 2024 record hundreds of incidents, but without final conclusions about their nature.
Calls for more transparency
Part of American lawmakers, especially from the ranks of Republicans, is asking for the continued publication of all available materials. Representative Anna Paulina Luna stated that in the coming period, additional videos that, as she claims, were submitted by whistleblowers, could be published.
Experts warn, however, that such recordings and reports are often misinterpreted, especially when analyzed by people unfamiliar with military technology or testing.
