Today, Mostar was the scene of one of the most emotional and inspiring sports stories that will be remembered for a long time.
Namely, a boy Šimun Petar he successfully ran the Mostar Half Marathon and thus became the world’s first boy on the autism spectrum who managed to do it.
With this exceptional undertaking, the Mostar Half Marathon, but also the City of Mostar, they entered the world map as a place where boundaries are pushed and written a history that goes beyond sports, and the association Zvončica, which stands behind the entire project, proved that such projects are possible in every city.
Šimun’s race was not only a physical challenge, but a strong message about possibilities, persistence and the importance of inclusion in society.
On this demanding section 21 kilometers long Šimun was not alone – they ran with him the whole way Marko Cindrić and Darko Roginaproviding him with support and extra strength at key moments in the race.
Everything went great. Šimun Petar ran nicely, we adjusted to the pace, kept steady until the very end, and the support was excellent throughout the race, and thanks to everyone for that. My heart is full!, he said Darko Rogina.
Marko Cindrić he stated that the feeling is indescribable.
The race is phenomenal, the support is phenomenal. We did a historic thing and Šimun Petar ran 21 kilometers, without any crisis, I am honored to have been a part of this historic event, said Cindrić.

Particularly touching moments were recorded at the finish line, where Šimun Petar was welcomed ovation of hundreds of Mostar residents and guests. Applause, tears and smiles filled the finish line, while the crowd on their feet greeted the boy who made history with his steps.
This entire undertaking was accompanied by strong emotions and great support from the wider social community. From the very beginning of the project, until today’s entry into the finish line, Šimun Petar became a symbol of struggle, courage and hope for many families and children who face different challenges.
His message, as often pointed out by those who follow him, remains simple but powerful – boundaries exist only to be moved. And Mostar today showed what it looks like when the whole community stands behind such a story.
