One of the five French passengers aboard the cruise ship affected by the hantavirus outbreak showed symptoms during the repatriation flight on Sunday, French Prime Minister Sebastien Lecornu said on Platform X.
A group of passengers and crew left the cruise ship affected by the hantavirus outbreak on Sunday to be evacuated to their home countries, in a process overseen by global health officials that is expected to last until Monday.
The passengers, none of whom showed symptoms of the virus at the time of boarding, were transported by military buses to Tenerife airport, from where they were evacuated by government planes sent by their countries.
Officials emphasized that passengers will not have contact with the public during the evacuation.
