FICO and other members of Slovakia recently traveled to Russia, Azerbaijan and Turkey. In December, Fico met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow, which caused special dismissal. The government justified these travels by claiming that they ensured their diplomatic efforts to a continuous supply of gas for the country.

From Fic’s return to power in autumn 2023, Slovakia did not deliver weapons with neighboring Ukraine from his own military stocks. But unlike Hungary, it has so far agreed to all union resolutions against Russia and to support Ukraine.
