The Government of the Zenica-Doboj Canton brought a new Essential Medicine List, with the aim of improving the availability of modern and efficient pharmacotherapy for secured persons in this canton.
The list of CRDK drugs will be available on the official website of the Ministry of Health, and consists of A and B list. There are 1,130 medications in the A list that are fully financed from the Funds of the ZDK Health Insurance, while the B List includes 58 drugs with the partial participation of the insured, which is a total of 1,188 drugs.
The decision on the new Essential Medicine List was adopted at the Cantonal Government’s session, at the proposal of the Health Minister Dr. Aid Salčinović. Medications from the new list will be available to patients in the area of ZDK no later than mid-July 2025. Years.
There are 224 new medications on the lists, primarily designed for the treatment of diabetes, cardiovascular and respiratory diseases. In particular, the inclusion of the so-called Fixed drug combinations, which in one tablet combine two or more active substances, which simplifies therapy, increases therapy adherence and reduces total drug consumption.
In addition, 22 medicines were transferred to the B list to the A list, which enables the patients to receive them without an extra charge, fully charged with the funds of the Health Insurance Institute. These are medications that have so far been among the most expensive, for which patients in some cases have been borne by up to 75% of the total price. This change is a significant financial relief for chronic patients and the most vulnerable categories of the population.
Amendments to the Financial Plan of the Institute of Health Insurance of Zenica-Doboj Canton, the amount of funds for an additional 4 million KM is increased, so the total allocations for the medication from the Essential List now amount to KM 40 million per year. The decision does not require additional funds from the Budget of the ZDK.
Dr. Amela Granić, MPs in the Assembly of the ZDK and the President of the Medicine Commission, also played an important role in the process of drafting and improving the new Essential List. Through its professional and political engagement, it has made a significant contribution to the inclusion of new therapeutic options and in ensuring the financial sustainability of the list.
By adopting a new list, the Ministry of Health ZDK confirms its commitment to creating a fairer, more accessible and modern health care system.
