The start of the 2026 World Cup is approaching. The tournament, which will be played in the USA, Canada and Mexico, brings an expanded format with 48 national teams, but one interesting statistic particularly attracts attention.
Namely, never before at a World Cup not so many brothers performed – even eight pairs will share the great world stage.
Half of them will play side by side, in the same national jerseys:

Special focus goes to the Williams brotherswhose story has been interesting to the football public for years. Nico excels in the Spanish jersey as one of the key players of the European champion, while Iñaki chose to play for Ghana, following his family roots.
Possible head-to-head matches in the knockout phase they would further raise the emotions and brought rarely seen scenes on football’s biggest stage.
With a record number of participants and a condensed schedule of matches, the 2026 World Cup will also be remembered for one unusual fact – a large number of brothers who will be chasing the most valuable trophy in football at the same time.
