Netflix has increased the prices of all its packages in the United States, as the streaming giant expands into new programming formats such as video podcasts and live sports.

Its ad-supported package now costs $8.99 a month, up from $7.99 previously, while the price of its standard package has risen by $2 a month to $19.99, according to data from its official website, Reuters reports.

The premium package now costs $26.99 per month, down from $24.99. Netflix also increased the cost of adding an additional member to $7.99 for packages with ads and $9.99 for packages without ads.

The company, which has more than 325 million subscribers, discontinued its cheapest ad-free package, called basic, back in 2023, leaving users with only the more expensive premium and standard packages and the standard package with ads.

According to analysts TD Cowen, with the new prices, average revenue per subscriber in the US-Canada region will increase by six percent annually in 2026.

Netflix last increased its prices early last year.

The company reported revenue of $12.1 billion for the October-December period, slightly beating analysts’ estimates.

In February, Netflix dropped out of a bid for Warner Bros’ streaming and studio resources, clearing the way for Paramount Skydance to buy the storied Hollywood studio in a $110 billion deal.
