Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu secretly stayed in the United Arab Emirates during the American-Israeli war with Iran, his office announced.

According to reports from Israel, Netanyahu met with UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed during the conflict with Iran.

“This visit led to a historic breakthrough in relations between Israel and the United Arab Emirates,” Netanyahu’s office said.

Earlier this week, senior US officials confirmed that an Israeli air defense system was deployed in the United Arab Emirates and that it was involved in intercepting Iranian missiles.

Arab officials also announced that Mossad director David Barnea visited the UAE at least twice during the conflict with Iran to coordinate war-related activities.

Relations between Israel and the United Arab Emirates are further strengthened in 2020.

According to earlier reports, Netanyahu secretly visited the UAE back in 2018 and met with Mohammed bin Zayed, but this visit was not made public at the time.
