“Iran is sowing terror and chaos, and this is strongly felt here in Turkey. In recent weeks, NATO has successfully intercepted four Iranian ballistic missiles that were flying towards Turkey,” Rutte reminded, reports HINA.
“NATO is ready for such threats and will always do what is necessary to defend Turkey and all other member countries,” added the Secretary General of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, whose 32 member states are scheduled to meet at the beginning of July in the Turkish capital for a summit.
The former Dutch prime minister, who visited the headquarters of Aselsan, the Turkish defense industry giant, praised the “revolution in the Turkish defense industry” during his visit.
“In the face of the enormous dangers facing NATO countries, we must continue on this path, producing and innovating even more and even faster,” said Rutte, who is scheduled to meet with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan today.
“These are air defense systems, drones, ammunition, radars, space capabilities and much more that will protect us. You are developing cutting-edge technologies in this country, and that is exactly what we need,” he added.
