Dubai’s basketball players are back together after a turbulent few days marked by Iranian attacks on targets across the Middle East.
The team is now in Ljubljana, where they will continue their competitive duties.
Iranian missiles also hit the area of Dubai, which made it impossible to organize sports events in that region in the coming period.
Because of this, the club from the United Arab Emirates was forced to find an alternative solution for the continuation of the season.
Given that Dubai plays in both the Euroleague and the regional ABA league, it was decided that the team would temporarily move to Europe.
Sarajevo quickly emerged as one of the options. The good relations that the club has with the Basketball Club Bosna BH Telecom contributed to this, but also the fact that one of the key people in the club is Dejan Kamenjašević, from Sarajevo, who plays an important role in the Dubai project.
Additional interest for this team in Bosnia and Herzegovina is created by the presence of national team members Džanan Musa and Kenan Kamenjaš.
Basketball fans in Sarajevo will soon have the opportunity to watch Dubai against strong European teams.
Meetings against Spanish Baskonia in the Euroleague on March 12, and against Crvena Zvezda in the ABA League on March 15 are planned in the Zetra hall.
Before arriving in Sarajevo, Dubai will play an ABA League match against the home team Cedevita Olimpija on March 8 at 5 p.m. in Ljubljana.
Musa and Kamenjaš joined the team in the Slovenian capital. They left the club just before the start of the attack to join the national team of Bosnia and Herzegovina, not suspecting the development of events.
After the victory of the BiH national team in Switzerland, according to the club’s instructions, they stayed in Sarajevo waiting for further information, and now they have rejoined the team and are continuing with the club’s duties.
