In the circle of the Special Police Unit in Zenica, a significant step forward in equipping the police of Zenica-Doboj Canton was presented today – from combat armored vehicles to modern uniforms and weapons.
These are investments that, as the authorities point out, mark a new stage in the strengthening of the security system. For the first time, three armored combat vehicles were acquired, worth about 4.7 million KM, while more than 2.3 million KM were allocated for 46 new official vehicles.
Special emphasis was placed on the modernization of personal equipment of police officers – after almost three decades, personal weapons were renewed, for which approximately 1.5 million KM was allocated, while as much as five million KM was invested in new uniforms.
ZDK Interior Minister Emir Vračo said that investments in the security sector continue without interruption, with a clear goal – more efficient and prepared police.
In parallel with the equipment, significant work is also being done to strengthen human capacities. 223 new officers have already been accepted into the police ranks, while an additional 195 candidates are expected to be trained at the Police Academy soon.
ZDK Prime Minister Nezir Pivić emphasized that investments in the police make sense only with the professional and responsible work of police officers, calling on citizens to have confidence in the institutions. He also reminded that last year was devoted to investments in security, while this year’s focus was redirected to the health sector.
The Police Administration says that the goal is clear – modern, well-equipped and trained police that can respond to all the challenges of modern society, with continuous investment in equipment, technology and personnel.
