In Moscow’s Red Square, fireworks were canceled and the square itself was closed to visitors until 8 a.m. on January 1 due to heightened security measures.
More than half of Russia said goodbye to 2025. The country spans as many as 11 time zones – and the capital Moscow has entered the new year, 2026.
Many other countries entered the new year 2026 – among them Iraq, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, Tanzania, Madagascar, Uganda, Syria, Eritrea, Jordan, Kuwait and Yemen.
