Mosque desecrated in Memmingen: Police are investigating a possible extremist motive

The wall at the entrance, about a meter and a half high, on which there is a crescent moon symbol of the Turkish-Islamic community, was dirty. In addition, the perpetrators placed a severed pig’s head on the symbol itself, which further desecrated the religious sign.

A nearby parcel station was also damaged in the incident, after which the attackers fled the scene and have not yet been identified. The case was taken over by the criminal police in Memmingen and the department for the protection of constitutional order, who are investigating a possible extremist background.

Traces were collected on the spot, and after the exhumation, the area was cleaned by firefighters and city service workers. The investigation is ongoing.
