In the Ministry of Economy of the Zenica-Doboj Canton, contracts on the construction of industrial zones were signed today with the City of Zavidovići and the municipalities of Tešanj, Usora and Olovo. The agreements enable further investments by the Government of ZDK in the infrastructure of industrial zones and the provision of support to local communities and investors.
ZDK Minister of Economy Samir Šibonjić pointed out that the Ministry and the Government continuously invest in industrial zones, creating the best possible conditions for companies and investors.
– The growth of industrial production in ZDK in the first 11 months of this year was about 10 percent compared to the same period in 2024, and our exports are continuously growing. We have done everything we could, now we are building new IT centers where we see them as modern industrial zones. Our goal is to strengthen the Zenica-Doboj canton, to strengthen our homeland Bosnia and Herzegovina, and we can only do that with a strong economy and a developed environment – said Minister Samir Šibonjić.
The mayor of Zavidovići, Erna Merdić Smailhodžić, thanked Minister Šibonjić and the ZDK Government led by Prime Minister Nezir Pivić for their continuous support to local communities through public invitations. She explained that the City of Zavidovići received 100,000 KM for infrastructure works in the industrial zone of Majdanska Polje, both on the first and second calls, and that implementation is expected to begin at the beginning of next year.
– Unfortunately, the Zavidovići are one of the nine local communities that the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina did not support in the last allocation for local self-government units of the FBiH, so this support from the Government of the Zenica-Doboj Canton, which is not absent when it comes to local communities in the area of this canton, really means a lot to us – said Mayor Erna Merdić Smailhodžić.
Assistant Mayor of Usora Municipality, Ivica Labudović, emphasized the importance of the Ministry’s support in the implementation of the third phase of the Ularica city zone construction project, pointing out that the Ministry’s support has so far reached millions and enabled significant economic development of the municipality.
– The economic development that we experienced in the past years would certainly not have been possible without that support, so we are very grateful to the Ministry of Economy and Minister Šibonjić – said Ivica Labudović.
The signed contracts represent a concrete continuation of the policy of the Government of Zenica-Doboj Canton, which invests in the economy and local communities, with the aim of strengthening industrial zones, encouraging employment and economic development in the entire canton.
