The Minister for Labour, Social Policy and Refugees, Antonio Šimunović, visited the Immaculate Conception Parish of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Crkvice, Zenica today, in order to visit the completion of the renovation of the facade of the parish church, which was co-financed by this ministry.
Minister Šimunović was accompanied by ZDK Assembly representative Ivo Tadić and minister’s advisor Zdenko Kolak. Pastor Andrej Lukanović hosted the delegation and introduced them to the work of the parish.
This visit followed the recent decision of this ministry to approve funds in the amount of 44,000 KM for the co-financing of the church facade renovation project.
During the visit, Minister Šimunović pointed out that projects like this have multiple significance.
“Projects like this are not just an investment in infrastructure, but also an expression of support for returnees, preservation of multiculturalism and common future in ZDK. The Ministry recognizes the importance of preserving the cultural and religious heritage of our communities,” said Minister Šimunović.
The parish of Crkvice is particularly significant considering that over 900 returnees are officially registered in it. Support for the restoration of the church is directly related to support for the survival and development of this returning community.
Pastor Lukanović expressed his gratitude for the quick reaction and the approval of funds, stressing that the renovation of the facade will ensure the safety of the faithful and contribute to the aesthetic preservation of this important religious building.
The Ministry confirmed that in the future it will be a “partner to all communities that act in the interest of the common good.” The visit concluded with a promise of further cooperation on projects that strengthen multiculturalism and coexistence.
