The Minister of Economy of the Zenica-Doboj Canton, Samir Šibonjić, met with the Minister of Trade and Customs of the Republic of Turkey, Ömer Bolat, with whom he discussed the cooperation to date and the improvement of trade relations between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Turkey.
Minister Šibonjić thanked his Turkish colleague for the support provided by the Ministry of Trade, the Government and the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey, as well as the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce headed by Şekib Avdagić, during the return of the national pride of the economy – the ZEPS fair. He pointed out that in the process of the return of ZEPS, one of the key supports came precisely from the Government and the ministry headed by Minister Bolat.
The Minister of Economy ZDK invited Minister Bolat to, together with Turkish businessmen, visit and ceremonially open ZEPS 2026, which will be held in Zenica from September 2 to 5, 2026.
During the visit, a meeting was held with representatives of Turkish companies operating in Bosnia and Herzegovina, organized by DEIK, the national organization for international cooperation and development, headed by Hasan Topaloğlu. The possibilities of increasing trade between the two friendly countries were discussed.
The cooperation so far has resulted in an increase of trade exchange more than 30 times, which this year amounts to about 1.2 billion dollars, with an increase in exports from Bosnia and Herzegovina of about 52 million dollars.
Šibonjić emphasized that the common goal is to further increase the exchange of goods above 2 billion dollars, stressing that the strength lies in gathering and working together on good projects. He said that it is time “to turn our romantic relationships into real ones and start an even better economic cooperation”. The minister listed a number of advantages that Bosnia and Herzegovina offers, stressing that hard workers and good people are the biggest advantage of our country.
