The Federal Minister of the Environment and Tourism of Nasih Pozder was in the Visit Visit Una-Sana Canton, where he held a consultative meeting with the Cantonal Minister of Construction, Physical Planning and Environmental Protection, the Chiefs of Mayors and experts. The main topic of the conversation was the development of a new federal waste management plan, which should significantly contribute to the reduction of pollution and preservation of the natural beauty of the region, was announced from the Federal Ministry.
Necessary emergency measures
The last Federal Waste Management Plan expired eight years ago and we finally created the conditions for its development, with the support of UNDP in BiH. We all agree that the current situation is unacceptable and is the ultimate class for action. We have difficult decisions ahead that will require significant financial investments, but we must change waste management – from the habit of citizens to institutional access, where waste will become raw material. We will hold such consultations in all cantons to ensure a quality and implementation plan – said Minister Pozder.
Support to UNA National Park
Minister Pozder also met with the leadership of the I UNA National Park, where the Federal Ministry provided Grant Funds of the World Bank for the project “Integrated Natural Solutions and Disaster Risks in BiH”.
This project, which has just begun, strengthens resistance to climate change through natural solutions such as swamp and afforestation renovation, integrated into the Legislative Framework of the Federation of BiH. The UNA National Park will receive support for the finalization of the management plan, which will include measures to preserve biodiversity and promoting sustainable tourism – the statement said.
In addition, the Federal Ministry of the Budget of the Federation of BiH provided 500,000 KM for the work of the Una National Park, which further contributes to the protection of this natural gem and its development as a tourist destination.
Visit to Una-Sana Canton, as the Ministry confirms the importance of cooperation of all levels of environmental protection, thus not only improving waste management, but also supports sustainable tourism development as one of the key economic potentials of the Federation of BiH.
