The Minister for Spatial Planning, Transport and Communications and Environmental Protection of the Zenica-Doboj Canton, Adnan Šabani, today handed the keys to the dedicated truck for the collection, sorting and transportation of municipal waste to the director of the Public Utility Company “Vis” Doboj Jug, Maid Škilja.
It is a “MAN” brand vehicle, which was purchased through a joint investment of the Ministry of Spatial Planning, Transport and Communications and Environmental Protection ZDK, the Government of Zenica-Doboj Canton and the Municipality of Doboj Jug. The ceremonial handover of the vehicle was attended by the Mayor of Doboj Jug Municipality, Mirnes Tukić, and the Deputy Chairman of the Doboj Jug Municipal Council, Adin Begić, who expressed their satisfaction with the cooperation with the line ministry so far.
– We have successfully completed the project of procurement of a multi-purpose cargo vehicle that will enable more efficient collection and sorting of waste at the point of origin. We express our special gratitude to Minister Adnan Šabani for his continued support and engagement in the realization of this extremely important project for our local community, with the expectation of continued successful cooperation in the future – said the director of PUC “Vis” Maid Škiljo.
The total value of the investment is KM 100,600 without VAT, of which KM 70,000 was allocated from the Zenica-Doboj Canton Budget. The purchase of this vehicle will significantly improve the quality of services provided by PUK “Vis”.
– We continuously follow modern trends in the field of environmental protection and in this way provide strong support to utility companies that deal with the collection, transport and disposal of municipal waste. For the second year in a row, we are implementing projects to help utility companies through the purchase of trucks, loaders and equipment, construction of waste stations, as well as co-financing of waste transportation to landfills. Our goal is to facilitate the work of employees, reduce company costs and enable citizens of all municipalities and cities in ZDK to live in a cleaner and healthier environment – said Minister Adnan Šabani.
During 2024 and 2025, with the aim of improving the system of collection, transport and disposal of municipal waste, about 1.2 million KM was allocated from the Budget of Zenica-Doboj Canton to municipalities, cities and utility companies. In that period, a dozen specialized trucks and other machinery intended for working with waste and maintaining communal cleanliness were acquired.
