The Minister of Physical Place, Transport and Communications and Protection of the Environment of the Zenica-Doboj Canton Adnan Sabani sent a message on the occasion of the 5th. June, World Environment Day in which it is said:
“Dear citizens and citizens of Zenica – Doboj Canton,
On the 5th of the world, the world is celebrated as a world environmental day. This is an opportunity to remind you again about our responsibility towards the planet of the Earth. This year, the campaign is focused on many of the very burning problem of the so-called plastic pollution #beatplasticpollution
This pollution threatens our ecosystems, the health of people and the future of the country. In our lives, plastic has become ubiquitous, but its practicality we pay a huge price. From our rivers and the sea to the distant oceans filled with plastic waste to microplastal in the food we eat and the air we breathe, plastic pollution represents the global crisis. It’s not just a aesthetic problem. The plastic suffocates wild animals, destroys natural habitats and releases harmful chemicals into the environment.
However, I’m sure there’s hope for salvation. We can reverse this trend together and each of us can contribute to reducing plastic waste: how?
- We reduce the use of disposable plastic. Let’s choose cloth bags instead of plastic, we use water bottles that can be recharged and avoided products with excessive plastic packaging;
- Let’s recycle right. Let’s meet up with the recycling rules in your community and secure that plastic waste ends where he is a place;
- Let’s support innovations. We look for and support companies that develop sustainable plastic alternatives and promote the circular economy,
- We spread awareness and talk to friends and family members about the problem of plastic pollution, encouraging them to take action.
The victory over plastic pollution requires common efforts of governments, industry and individuals. May this World Environmental Day remind us that every small step is important. Together we can create a cleaner, healthier and more sustainer world for all of us.
