On Tuesday, members of the Badminton Club “Herc” from Široki Brijeg visited the Dr. Br. Slavko Barbarić in Čitluk with the aim of promoting badminton among students and providing support for the establishment of the Brotnjo Badminton Club.
The initiative to establish a Badminton Club in Čitluk was initiated by professors Dario Karačić and Leonardo Klemo who welcomed the guests from the “Herc” Badminton Club in the hall of the High School in Čitluk, and the event was attended by Ivica Jerkicpresident of the Čitluk Municipal Council.
Professor Karačić pointed out that the Badminton Club “Brotnjo” was founded with the aim of starting a new sports content in Brotnjo, and the children accepted the idea very well.
I think that the club will grow day by day and that through trainings, competitions and tournaments, more and more people will start playing badminton. It’s something newespecially here in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The FBiH Badminton Association was only recently founded, and soon an association will be formed at the level of Bosnia and Herzegovina, so we also joined it with our Badminton Club “Brotnjo”.he said Dario Karačićprofessor at the Friar Slavko Barbarić Secondary School in Čitluk.
Members of the “Herc” club are at the Physical Education class presented the basics of badmintongame rules and key techniques of this sport and them also donated valuable sports equipment for badminton.
Badminton is in Široki Brijeg has been playing for about twenty years. We have existed as a club for about three years and we have about 50 members who actively play badminton recreationally, in the sense that they come twice a week to our hall in Trno. All generations come here, from young people who are ten years old all the way to the sixties and seventies. Badminton is an Olympic sport, it has been played at the Olympics since 1992, which is an interesting fact.
In Široki Brijeg we try to animate our fellow citizens to join and play, and today we are here to visit Badminton Club “Brotnjo”, which has just been founded. We want to support them in their work and today we will tell the children how this sport is played and what are the rules and benefits of playing. On the other hand, we also want to support them materially, so we brought certain equipment that will help our children in Čitluk to play this beautiful sport in this beautiful hall. After the educational part, there was also a joint gathering on the field, during which they many students tried badminton. The visit took place in a pleasant and sporty atmosphere, and the interest of high school students in badminton showed that this sport has the potential for further development and gathering of young people in the Brotnje area, it was announced on the website of the Municipality of Čitluk.
