Three weeks after he was admitted to the Roman Hospital Gemelli, Pope Franjo still struggles to get rid of the dual inflammation of the lungs that violated his fragile health.

Pope Francis (88) was not seen in public since he entered the hospital, and the Vatican did not give any indications if he could go out or if he could continue anything like his usual demanding work schedule.

The path to recovery is likely to be long and full of dangers, medical experts who are not involved in its care and speak generally about its condition.

– I saw patients who spent months in the hospital in such a situation. Of course it can recover, but the chances of the negative outcome are great – said Professor Christoph Lange, Secretary General of the International Union for the Fight against Tuberculosis and Pulmonary Diseases.

“The best advice would be to let him rest, let him take as much time as he needs to heal,” he said for Reuters.

Emphasizing his bad condition, Pope published a short audio message on Thursday night in which he thanked everyone who pray for him. His voice was broken, without breath and hardly understandable.

Vatican published daily news of the Papal Medical team, destroying previous church taboos and providing a detailed assessment of the papal health in real time.

In what is considered positive developments, his doctors said on Thursday that, given his clinical stability, the next newsletter would publish on Saturday, skipping Friday.

They continued, however, warn that his overall forecast remained hidden, as every day from 22. February, which means that it is not yet out of life’s danger.
