Croatian fighter in boxing without gloves Marko Martinjak announced on social networks after the incident at the end of the Goat League tournament in Zagreb, in which former football player Tomislav Mrkonjić was injured.
In the publication, Martinjak expressed his regret for the incident and admitted that his behavior was not appropriate.
First of all I want to express sincere regret for the incident which happened during the finals of the Goat League tournament. I am aware that my behavior at that moment was inappropriate and that as a professional athlete I must be an example of self-control and sportsmanship regardless of the circumstanceshe said.
He especially referred to the injury of Tomislav Mrkonjić, whom he wished a speedy recovery.
I’m sorry it came to the situation it’s in injured Tomislav Mrkonjić I wish him a speedy and successful recovery. No one comes to a sporting event to witness scenes like this, and for that I sincerely regretwrote Martinjak.
He added that he does not want to go into the details of the event itself or comment on the circumstances that preceded it, stressing that it is important to look at the whole situation without further raising tensions.
I take personal responsibility for my reaction and am aware that I should have acted differentlyhe stated.
At the end, he said that he would do everything necessary to personally resolve the situation with Mrkonjić and the tournament organizers, and apologized to the spectators, organizers, teammates, fans and everyone who was disappointed by the incident.

Let’s remind you, during the end of the Goat League tournament, there was a conflict between Martinjak and Mrkonjić, after which the game was stopped.
Who is Marko Martinjak?
Marko Martinjak is the current owner of the belt in bridger category boxing without gloves and one of the most famous fighters on the bare-knuckle scene. He has been performing in the organization of BKB since 2016, and in October of last year he once again won the title of world champion in the bridger category with a knockout against Dan Podmore. This made him only the second fighter in the organization’s history to win belts in two different divisions, having previously held the Super Cruiserweight title.
Before switching to boxing without gloves, he was building professional boxing careerbut without significant results, achieving a ratio of eight wins, 28 losses and two tied matches. He has spoken publicly about his past on several occasions, admitting that he deliberately lost certain fights in order to earn money for his family. He also spoke openly about his addiction to cocaine and the robberies of post offices and banks that landed him in prison, where he spent more than three years.
