“Mars’ candy factory will be expanded with a new production facility of more than 26,000 square meters. The facility will house lines for the production and packaging of chocolate and sweets. The company will build an extension of the existing factory in Stupin,” according to a statement published on the website of the competent office.
Three production lines
The main department of the state body for construction supervision has received a notification about the start of construction of the plant. In the new facility, the company plans to launch three production lines. Two lines will each produce 216 tons of chocolate per day, while the third will produce up to 67 tons of sweets per day.
According to the regional office of the state body for construction supervision, construction should be completed in June 2027. The factory is being built by Mars LLC, the Russian subsidiary of the American food group Mars. The exact amount of the investment has not been announced.
The Mars Group has been operating in the Russian market since 1991, when it founded the subsidiary Master Foods, which sold sweets such as M&M’s candies and Mars and Snickers chocolate bars, as well as pet food such as Whiskas and Pedigree.
The company’s first production complex was opened in 1995 in Stupin, about a hundred kilometers south of Moscow, after which the company was renamed Mars LLC. In addition to the factory in Stupin, the company also has production facilities in Lukhovitsy, Novosibirsk and Ulyanovsk Oblast.
