Five-year-old Medin Mehinagić from Maglaj is fighting the most difficult battle – the one for health and childhood, which should be filled with play, not pain.
Today he returns from Istanbul after a demanding operation. Instead of smiling on the playground, his legs are in casts, and he faces weeks of complete rest and a long, grueling recovery with physical therapy.
Medin has been fighting since birth. The brain hemorrhage left severe consequences – slurred speech, the need for diapers, duplex scoliosis, Perthes disease of the femur and sleep apnea. Yet, despite everything, this little boy shows incredible strength and courage.
After numerous examinations in Istanbul, the doctors confirmed that the operation was necessary. The operation was successfully performed, but the family is now facing a large financial burden – the hospital was given a guarantee that 35,160 KM will be collected for treatment costs.
His mother, who alone takes care of Medina and three other children, is also fighting her own difficult battle – she is an oncology patient and has serious kidney problems.
