French President Emmanuel Macron spoke today with his Iranian counterpart Massoud Pezeshkian, whom he told to immediately stop his attacks on countries in the region.
“Iran must also guarantee freedom of navigation by ending the de facto closure of the Strait of Hormuz. Finally, I reiterated our deep concern about the development of Iran’s nuclear and ballistic program and the full range of its destabilizing activities in the region, which are at the root of the current crisis,” Macron said.
As he added, a diplomatic solution is needed more than ever “to resolve these key challenges, end escalation and preserve peace.”
“We agreed to stay in touch,” Macron concluded.
