French President Emmanuel Macron said France would introduce the ban on access to social networks for children under 15 years “within a few months” if nothing at the level of the European Union.
“We must ban social networks for those under 15 years,” said Macron on Tuesday for France Public Service France 2, the day after the 14-year-old student at the eastern French staff during routine bag control.
The president called on the wider European initiative, saying, “I give us a few more months to initiate European mobilization. Otherwise … we will start with measures in France. We cannot wait anymore.”
According to the authorities, the attack occurred during the routine control of students when entering school in the city of Nogent. The student was arrested on the spot, and a police officer who helped the examination received easier injuries.
The attack was performed by the same knife on both victims. Although it is not clear for now whether the crime is associated with content on social networks, some local media tried to establish a connection, although there are no confirmed motifs information.
