French President Emmanuel Macron said on Saturday that he had a telephone conversation with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan about negotiations on a ceasefire in Iran and the situation in Ukraine.
“At the beginning, we discussed the situation in the Middle East and called on all parties to respect the ceasefire and to ensure that it also applies to Lebanon, that all parties respect the freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, and we emphasized the importance of achieving a strong and lasting diplomatic solution,” Macron wrote on the social networking platform X, reports AFP.
Peace talks aimed at ending the six-week war in the Middle East have begun in Islamabad, CBS reported, citing sources.
Iranian state television reports that diplomats in Islamabad have “red lines” that include a ceasefire and war reparations. A US official told CBS News that no agreements had been reached.
